A highlight of this year’s International Yoga Day will be the Guardian Ring – a relay yoga streaming event – that will integrate and weave digital feeds of programs hosted by Indian missions abroad.
According to the plan, streaming from Japan will start on social media at 8 am local time. After that, programs from missions abroad will be relayed based on their time zone and end with New Zealand, an official said.
According to a source, each Indian mission will organize yoga activities on June 21.
Based on the broad pattern of celebrating International Yoga Day in recent years, these activities may include brief functions, lectures, yoga demonstrations based on common yoga protocols, and local celebrity videos, among others, the official said.
The Guardian Ring program will combine video feeds from 20 to 30 selected missions across different time zones into a continuous social media event lasting approximately 18 to 20 hours.
The Ministry of AYUSH has sought the consent of the MEA that the missions will participate in the program.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a massive yoga exhibition in Mysore on June 21, International Yoga Day. The event is being held in physical mode after a long two years due to the coronavirus epidemic.
