Parents of WB state-run school students get a supply of mid-day meals in the summer

The state government has directed the state-run schools in West Bengal to provide mid-day meal to parents of students during summer vacations so that they are not deprived of benefits.

For the first time, lunch will be distributed among school children during the epidemic, a school education official said. Previously, these lunches were provided for school children during the Covid-19 period when schools were closed.

All the district magistrates of the state were directed by a notice to arrange for the provision of lunch among the parents of the beneficiary students. Officials were further asked to prepare a distribution plan by May 25 for the distribution of supplies to each school.

According to the notification, each student was given two kg of rice, two kg of potato, 250 g of sugar, 250 g of pulses and a piece of soap.

“It simply came to our notice then. We will set a date after May 25 and ask a section of staff and teachers to come to the school to hand over the cooked mid-day meal items to the parents, ”said Firoza Begum, headmistress of a primary school in Murshidabad district. .
