Rajiv Gandhi death anniversary: ​​Congress workers pay homage to former PM Rajiv

Congress workers in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday laid a wreath at the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, describing him as a dreamer who brought about a communication revolution in India. A large number of Congress workers laid wreaths at the intersection of Kalidas Marg and Mall Avenue statues of the former prime minister and at the party office here, the party said in a statement.

Describing Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary and the “father of the communication revolution” of the country, the Congress recalls his contribution to the dream of 21st century India and how he sacrificed his life for national unity.

At a seminar at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium at the party headquarters, the speakers recalled how the former prime minister rose to the political horizon after the death of his mother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi for her polite behavior and efficient leadership, the statement said.

The statement said that he has prepared the country for the challenges of the 21st century, introducing the importance of computer to the people.

In Amethi, Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary was celebrated as “Balidan Day”. Rajiv Gandhi represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha.

In Meerut, former state Congress secretary Chowdhury Yashpal Singh and many other local leaders of the party paid tribute to Gandhi and remembered his contribution to the formation of modern India.
