Story series ‘Story Train’ to reach more than 1 lakh children by summer 2022

Noy Dhara, in collaboration with First Education Foundation and Rekhta Foundation, has created a series of audio stories for children, Kahani Train. Story Train is an innovative initiative to connect young children with language and literacy.

Early years are the most important time in a child’s life for growth and development. The strong foundations of learning over these years are building blocks for higher order skills that have a significant impact on later life outcomes. When children begin with low literacy and numeracy skills, they struggle to keep up year after year and lose the benefits of further education.

The National Education Policy (NEP) -2020 recognizes basic literacy and numeracy as an urgent and necessary prerequisite for education. To this end, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has launched the NIPUN India Mission for FLN to call for basic education for all 3rd grade children by 2027.

At its pilot stage, Kahani Train offers 40 Hindi stories for children from 5 to 10 years old. The stories are a curated mix, diversified in their content and cultural environment, and will be promoted through the first-ever summer camp program for children, where more than a million children will benefit from them. Stories will be available for teachers and social workers to engage in discussions and use as a remedial tool.
