The Tripura minister compared former BJP chief minister Biplob Kumar Dev to Vivekananda.

Agartala: Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath threw himself into a controversy while comparing Swami Vivekananda with former Chief Minister Biplob Kumar Deb.

Nath, who had earlier faced controversy over his remarks on organ collection, when he mentioned that great leaders like Subhash Bose, poet-winner Rabindra Nath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi were born in the country, also termed it “lucky” that Dev was born in Tripura.

“Those in charge of the state have failed to live up to our dream. The only person who has taught us to dream is Biplob (Kumar) Dev and he (his) has fulfilled many dreams, ”he said at a function at Kamalpur Town Hall in Dhalai district on Friday.

“Sometimes in our country and in the world some great leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, poet Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and Einstein have been born. Not every (great) person is born in every place “, he said,” We are lucky enough that a person like Biplob Deva was born in our kingdom. ”

“The way Swamiji taught us to dream and fulfill dreams, Biplob Dev has also implemented it with several steps,” the minister claimed.

“People who have little knowledge of the country’s culture, heritage and etiquette are running the state. The way he (Nath) has compared former chief minister Biplob Dev to some of the country’s great sons is tantamount to disrespect,” the Trinamool Congress state said. President Subal Bhowmik told PTI.

Asked about the party’s position on the education minister’s statement, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakavarti replied on Saturday, “I have not seen the video footage. What’s more, it was his personal observation that the team had nothing to say about. ”
