Tripura Manik Saha announces cabinet portfolio, new CM stays home, keeps health

Two days after being sworn in, 11 ministers of the Tripura cabinet under newly elected Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha were allotted their portfolios on Wednesday.

Most of the cabinet portfolios were retained in the same way as in the Biplob Dev administration, with the exception of two new ministers – Rampad Jamatia and Prem Kumar Rayang – who were included in the cabinet under CM Saha.

Saha kept important departments like home and health to herself. He also holds IT and general administration.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma will maintain finance, power, rural development, planning and coordination, science, technology and environment.

NC Devvarma, a veteran minister and IPFT MLA, has retained his revenue and forest portfolios.

Ratan Lal Nath, who was in charge of the law and education department in the previous administration, shared the same portfolio with Pranjit Singh Roy, who was assigned to the transport, tourism and agriculture and farmer welfare departments.

Manoj Kanti Dev was given the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs along with Urban Development and Santana Chakma was given the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education along with the Department of Industries and Commerce (excluding weaving, handicrafts, silk farming and IT).

Santana Chakma has been made the new Minister of Industry and Commerce, besides she will be in charge of social welfare and social education. Apart from being in charge of the jail, Ram Prasad Pal was assigned two more sections – OBC Welfare and Welfare for Minorities. Fire service and emergency services.

Bhagwan Das SC will remain as the Minister of Welfare, Animal Resources and Labor. Sushant Chowdhury retains his old portfolios – Information and Culture, Youth and Sports and Drinking Water and Sanitation.

Ram Pad Jamatia was allotted tribal welfare and weaving, and handicrafts and silk farming. Prem Kumar Rayang has been made the Minister of Fisheries and Cooperatives.
